Ozone Therapy for Cancer Support
Medical ozone to enhance oxygen utilization, stimulate immune response, and support your body's healing capacity.
What is Medical Ozone Therapy?
Ozone therapy utilizes medical-grade ozone (O3) - a highly reactive form of oxygen - to stimulate healing, enhance immune function, and improve oxygen delivery throughout the body. This therapy has been used in medicine for over a century and is particularly valuable as a supportive treatment for cancer patients.
Ozone is created when pure medical oxygen (O2) passes through a specialized generator that adds an extra oxygen atom, creating O3. When introduced into the body in controlled therapeutic doses, ozone triggers beneficial biological responses that support healing and enhance your body's ability to fight disease.
How Ozone Therapy Supports Cancer Patients
As a complementary, supportive therapy used alongside conventional cancer care, ozone therapy is offered at AIMC to help patients tolerate treatment and support overall wellbeing. It is not a cancer treatment and is not a substitute for oncology care:
Oxygenation Support
Ozone has been studied for its effects on the oxygen-carrying capacity of red blood cells and tissue oxygen delivery, which may support overall cellular function during treatment.
Immune Response
Research has examined ozone's influence on cytokines, interferons, and other immune-signaling molecules involved in the body's natural immune response.
Antioxidant Pathway Activation
Ozone has been studied for its interaction with the body's antioxidant pathways. Research in this area is ongoing.
Detoxification Support
Ozone enhances liver function and supports the body's natural detoxification pathways, helping clear metabolic waste and byproducts of cancer treatment.
Ozone Treatment Methods We Offer
Major Autohemotherapy (MAH)
The gold standard of ozone therapy for cancer patients. A portion of your blood is drawn, mixed with medical ozone, and then reinfused into your body. This method allows for systemic distribution of ozone's benefits throughout your entire body. Treatment takes approximately 30-45 minutes.
High-Dose Ozone Therapy (10-Pass)
An intensified version of MAH that cycles larger volumes of blood through the ozone treatment process multiple times in a single session. This delivers significantly higher therapeutic doses and is particularly valuable for cancer patients seeking maximum immune stimulation.
Ozone Insufflation
Direct introduction of ozone gas into body cavities (rectal, vaginal, or ear insufflation) for localized effects. Rectal insufflation in particular provides systemic benefits and is a gentler option for patients who may not be candidates for IV treatments.
Ozonated Saline IV
Medical-grade saline that has been infused with ozone is administered intravenously. This provides similar benefits to MAH and can be combined with other IV therapies for enhanced effect.
EBOO (Extracorporeal Blood Oxygenation and Ozonation)
EBOO represents the most advanced form of ozone therapy available today. Unlike standard autohemotherapy that treats a small volume of blood, EBOO is a dialysis-like procedure that filters and ozonates your entire blood volume through a specialized membrane system.
During the 45-60 minute procedure, blood is drawn from one arm, passed through an ozone-infused dialysis filter that removes toxins, inflammatory proteins, heavy metals, and metabolic waste while saturating the blood with therapeutic ozone, then returned through the other arm. This comprehensive blood purification delivers significantly greater therapeutic benefits than conventional ozone methods.
Why EBOO for Cancer Patients
- Deep detoxification — Removes circulating toxins, tumor byproducts, and metabolic waste that burden the immune system
- Maximum ozone delivery — Treats your entire blood volume, not just a small sample
- Enhanced immune activation — Stimulates white blood cells and natural killer cells more effectively than standard protocols
- Improved oxygen delivery — Increases the oxygen-carrying capacity of red blood cells, creating an environment hostile to cancer cells
- Reduced inflammation — Filters inflammatory cytokines directly from the bloodstream
- Supports conventional treatment — Patients often report better tolerance of chemotherapy and radiation when receiving EBOO
Benefits for Cancer Patients
- Improved Energy: Enhanced oxygen delivery often leads to significant improvements in fatigue
- Stronger Immune Response: Activation of natural killer cells and other immune components
- Better Chemotherapy Tolerance: May reduce side effects and support faster recovery between treatments
- Enhanced Detoxification: Supports liver function and waste elimination
- Reduced Inflammation: Anti-inflammatory effects can help with pain and swelling
- Improved Circulation: Better blood flow and oxygen delivery to all tissues
- Infection Prevention: Antimicrobial properties help protect immunocompromised patients
- Mental Clarity: Better oxygenation often improves cognitive function
What to Expect During Treatment
Before Your First Treatment
You'll have a consultation with Dr. Stallone to review your medical history, current cancer treatment, and overall health status. This helps us determine the most appropriate ozone protocol and ensure safe integration with your oncology care.
During Treatment
- MAH Treatment: You'll relax in a comfortable chair while we draw blood, mix it with ozone in a specialized closed system, and reinfuse it. The process takes 30-45 minutes.
- 10-Pass Treatment: Expect 1.5-2 hours for this more intensive protocol.
- Insufflation: These treatments are quick, typically 10-20 minutes.
After Treatment
Most patients feel energized after ozone therapy, though some may experience mild fatigue as the body processes the treatment. We recommend staying well-hydrated and avoiding strenuous activity for the rest of the day.
Safety & Integration with Cancer Treatment
Ozone therapy has an excellent safety profile when administered by trained practitioners using proper protocols. Dr. Stallone has decades of experience with ozone therapy and follows established guidelines to ensure your safety.
We always coordinate with your oncology team to ensure ozone therapy is appropriate for your situation and properly timed with your conventional treatments. Ozone therapy is typically administered on different days than chemotherapy to avoid any potential interactions.
Contraindications: Ozone therapy may not be appropriate for patients with G6PD deficiency, active hyperthyroidism, severe anemia, or those taking certain blood-thinning medications. All patients are screened prior to treatment.
Frequently Asked Questions
When properly timed, ozone therapy can be used alongside chemotherapy. We typically schedule ozone treatments on days you're not receiving chemotherapy and always coordinate with your oncologist to ensure safe integration.
